This is an example of one of the signs at an intersection. It tells you that you are at intersection 7 and that the places named below the pointing log on top is where you will go if you pick that direction. Note there are multiple directions for Jordon Pond House and Seal Harbor. This is why it is good to also have a trail map. Obviously both the left and right directions will take you to Seal Harbor. But for example---maybe the left will take you directly there in a few miles---while the right might lead you five miles away to a different trail that will then lead back to the Harbor. You would then want the left trail---if you were looking for the shortest way to get there.
